The pressure for some firms to maintain a large presence in magazines, the press or on various property portals ensures, that at the end of the day, some agents will push you to only place your property on the open market. This does not work for everyone; nor should it.
Some owners want to remain anonymous, have a business that may be impacted or simply wish to keep the sale of a family home private. Importantly, selling privately can allow owners to wait for the right price to be offered for their property without it appearing stale on the open market.
With buyers increasingly using Search Agents and most high net worth individuals using their Private Family Offices to search for the right property on a confidential basis, private and off-market sales are a significant and valuable sector of the market.
